Lightbulb DIY Baking Painted Aftermarket Rotor Hats

Aftermarket Zimmermann rotors hats and edges don't come rust proofed like OE does, so I got a can of heat resistant Duplicolor paint, taped the friction part up, and went to town on the rotors.

Gave them 3 coats, leaving several hours in between for them to dry, and then baked them in the kitchen oven for over an hour at maximum temperature, as per the instructions.

They came out quite nice. Now I hope the finish turns out to be as rust resistant as it looks!

I have used just regular Duplicolor engine spray enamel on my rotors with excellent results. The rotors I just pulled off the race car have over 2 years on them and still look very good. I just installed another set using the same method... tape them up and spray 2 coats of the stuff. No baking in the oven required!

Nice -- but we know you're really just looking for ways to put off doing the belt job...

Good to know they hold up well enough without baking. Thanks!

I did the same to my rear Zimmerman rotors. No baking though.

They're holding up great.

Living in sin, but convinced the gf that the paint was already dry and would not leave any residue in the oven.
