I was acctually pondering that notion. I was going to check that when I got off work today. I wish I could just take about a week off to fix my new baby, but the military isn't that willing.

I know mine does.

It pretty much stoped all at once.
About my Z, the only things that are original would be the frame and body. Every thing else is pretty much the R34GT Nissan Skyline. I wanted a Skyline to begin with,it just cost too damn much! So I bought the Z(because I like em)for $700.00 and $6500.00 for the R34's inards. A year later, I ended up w/ one helluva bitchen Z~car. Sorry about the little story. I'm just really proud of my first complete transplant project!

i'll agree with shaun... dme relay can sometimes start and stops all at once... is your tach moving when you try to start on no-start occasions, if not the dme isnt sending signals to it and should be treated accordingly... get a new dme relay. for 944's they're like 16 bucks (ian's europarts)
good luck!

I am still interested in what type ignition and fuel system you have ??? In any case, double check the hoses around the intake manifold to make sure they are attached, particularly the large hoses. If you have Bosch K, make sure the boot between the throttle body and the manifold hasn't come off.

I wasn't able to test it thus far. But on my lunch break I got everything laid out to do so after work. But I'll keep you posted on that.
Roy, I do have the BOSCH for now. I'll run an MSD ignition w/ 7 gauge wires in the near future. But first things first.

Not to belabor the point, but having "spark", even enough to knock a big boy on his ***, and have enough spark to run the car are different. If you have a good strong spark it will be blue, and should easily jump a 1/2" gap on a spark tester. Anything that is orange or won't jump that gap is not gonna' do. Good luck.

I'm not an expert but I read a thread a couple of weeks ago that disconnecting your battery overnight then reconnecting in the morning resets the computer...which in your car may have some bearing on the fuel metering. It apparently does on 944's. I hope your car has a computer (you can tell I'm new to all of this).
Second thought...I like the blue / orange spark thread above. Didn't know about that.
And on a perverse third note, and only because you're desperate, I once had a Honda motorcycle that had spark + gas = wet plug. I took the blowtorch and heated the centre core of the plug, put it back in and presto. It fired up. I don't know why this would work or even why I tried this, but I was desparate. Don't quite know if this would work on a 4 cylinder engine, and honestly, I don't know if I would try this. I guess it depends if you're really desperate.
Hope your mechanic has some luck.

You might also check the injectors, at the boots. Mine had become worn and brittle, causing a short to the injectors. I was still getting fuel and spark, but it wasnt timing properly to fire.
I replaced the wiring, and no problems since.

I'm sorry, but I assume you are referring to the 2 liter engine....There is a connector at the base of the distributor that goes bad, and I know of no direct replacement. I had a 77 924 that developed a similar problem and had plenty of juice from the coil but none to the plugs. I had to be creative. And, someone asked about points....The 924 has none.
Dunno if this will help
