Default Sunroof problem

So my electric sunroof was not working because the gears were stripped.

I installed the new gears. Then after closing up the gear casings I tested the roof and herd a cracking sound. Then the roof would not open correctly. When I opened up the gear boxes the gears were striped again.

Is there a trick to lining up the gears and the lift bars so the plastic gears do not strip?

Thanks.

I assume you have been through the Clarks Garage write-ups? I recall it's best to raise/lower the SR manually with the new gears to set the limit switches to prevent over-travel and more stripped gears.

Like Steve said, I'd manually raise it after installing the new gears and verify the limit switches are gapped and aligned properly (believe that's in the "sunroof troubleshooting" link above). This is more likely that the clutch needs to be adjusted than a switch issue, but I'd examine the switches and the clutch adjustment.
