Default Best way to remove a stuck rotor...

... is to go medieval with it and bring out the hammer!

I tried threading the bolts through the rotor to push it off the hub to no avail. Gave it a good series of whacks with a strong hammer and the sucker slowly started to separate from the hub until I could finally get it off!

Sometimes brute force is warranted.

The big rubber dead blow mallet is a blessing in those situations! Been there, done that...

Conversation between Tom and me while I was doing a brake job at his shop:

Me- "What's the best way to get these rotors off?
Tom- "You re-using them?"
Me- "Nope."
Tom "Here's a hammer..."
(then his maniacle laugh and big smile, lol)

When in doubt, reach for a bigger hammer. Sometime brute force (and a little ignorance) is the best tool for the job.

rear rotor? probl has the shoes worn down below the surface and they are sticking- try pulling out on them while whacking them on the side of the "hub"

it's probably just rusted on?

I remember the rear rotor is only held on by 2 tinys screws and just slides off easily. if not I guess hit it with a hammer a couple time to loosen it?

or maybe a mallet..... a hammer might chip.

When I did mine, I had the opposite problem - whacking with mallet and hammer did not work, but using the bolts to jack the rotor off did...go figure!

When I did my brakes, I couldn't get the rear rotors off for the longest time, until I realized I still had my e-brake on......

^^^^^
BTDT......... x2

As for the fronts, I've wedged a screwdriver into the vents on the rotor and used it to gain ~2 feet of leverage on the rotor. With that much leverage it just popped right off. Other than that a hammer is the best bet
