And a lot of Sears power tools are made right here in the US of A (I think in a plant in NC) by Ryobi.

In the computer industry I've found that the failure rate of components is pretty consistent across the board. The only thing that makes one "brand" better than the other is the warranty AND how difficult it is to get things replaced when you have a claim. I've always used craftsman for just this reason - they don't ask questions - they just give you a new tool.
