cork gasket for intake manifold
I have one gasket that is leaking and have a roll of cork material. I wa wondering if anyone ever used the cork material for the intake manifold? It is the same thickness so was thinking of cutting a set for use.

Those gaskets are like $2 I think, I don't know if I would bother changing what the factory spec'd for a couple of bucks savings. I know the cork gasket on the back of the cam tower is a common leak area also.

Thanx Jon.
The issue is not the money, but time. I have my manifold apart and need to have it inspected this weekend. I am thinking I could make a template, transfer it onto the cork material, cut it out and use them instead.

Yeah, I hear you. I didn't think is was a money thing. I guess I was thinking the cork might not work as well, it dries out and is so spongy it might not seal at the same torque. I guess if you are in a pinch it should work, but I would not consider it ideal. That's a spot you definitely don't want unmetered air getting in.

I wouldn't do it for just one runner since you really don't know if it will compress to equal thickness of the others. If not, it could cause unforeseen problems with sealing the others. I would do all 4 runners with the cork.
