I think I've seen them, but maybe those are clear ones that have just gone bad? I suppose you could just make them out of sheet vinyl.

That's what I did and 2 years later they are still holding up great. I had just installed some OEM ones on a customer's car so I used the leftover backing material as a template.

I've been hoping someone will make black magnetic ones for our cars. I'd like to run them during autocross sessions and road trips, but leave them off when driving around town.

Ooooohhhh...really good idea. And cheap to do.

To the OP....yes, there are black ones. They came on my car (but are off now after paint). I planned on putting new ones on, but I really like Curt's idea.

OK...I just ordered .30 mil UV protected black magnetic backed vinyl. 24" wide by 10' roll. We'll see how this turns out.

I'll post pics.

If anyone else is interested, I got it from http://www.magnetsource.com. It's not available on the web site, so you have to call. The guy I talked to is Pablo at 888 293 3534 x155. Part number ZG3024BL10, $44.10.

Should have it next week.

I got the stuff, but managed to lose the templates I made of the stone guards before I took them off. I know its a long shot, but does anyone have a template or the backing from one they've put on? If not, I guess I'm buying one of each to make the templates again.
