Question 944S2 spins over but wont fire

My 91 944S2 has developed a small problem over the past few days and I'm hoping you guys can help. When it's been left all day I can't get it to start first time , it will spin over normally but it wont fire.If I turn off the ignition and try again it starts first time , every time. Also if I turn the ignition on and off a few times before cranking it, this also lets it start first time.Once its going, and warmed up it will start normally, the problem only occours when it's been left. Any ideas?

DME relay? You might try unplugging it & reseating it firmly first. Or just replace it. You can pull it & check it with a multimeter, but it's such a cheap part (~$25 US) that it's hardly worth a hassle, and it's a known weak point, so if that's not it, you've got a useful spare.

There are other possibilities, but this one is likely, cheap, & easy to check...

Jim, "Where are we going, and what's with this hand basket?"
