Thumbs up Don't Bother with After Market Mounts...

Max helped me replace my after market motor mounts (which he and I both installed last summer), with OEM version. Both of us tried the after market ones and both sets failed within a year. Amazing. The car now idles smooth and vibration free. We did a before/after, and when the AC was turned on there was noticeable vibration, now there is none, you can't even tell the AC was turned on.

Tip: don't buy after market mounts!!!

Thanks again Max, for the help.

I would like to second this. My aftermarket mounts failed within 20,000 miles.

I have allways found the factory parts to be superior than the replications. Especially the gaskets and the motor mounts! It is just not worth the small savings that you get, when you the part fails prematurly.

I will whole heartedly second Tom's comments on the after market mounts. So much for saving some money. Especially for you guys that aren't able to do it yourself (either due to time constraints or tool/lift access), don't pay to have someone put in aftermarket mounts. Spend the extra $100 bucks and put in the OEM factory mounts. Both sets of mounts (Tom's and mine) were badly collapsed and neither pair lasted more than a year. I lived with my vibration for almost 5 months before I got around to redoing them so I only got about 7k out of them.

Tom you are certainly welcome, it was fun. I truly hope that this set lasts longer.

Regards,
Max

Yup.. I agree. I went with aftermarket ones during the 1st rebuild. I have 3000 miles on them now, and since the they are out of the car from the fire, I was able to inspect them. I have some movement, but I have a mess of cracks and rubber seperation from the core. They are going in the trash.

I drove the hell out of the car in that 3000 miles, but I would assume that they would hold up better than that!
