Whatever happened to this?

I keep seeing new 1:18 models of a lot crummier old cars than the 944.

What gives?

Definitely. I built a 1:25 model and it came out kind of crappy. I'd love a quality 1:18.

Last year AutoArt started producing a very high quality 928 model.
I would like a 944/951/968 too.

Here are the 928 models:

AutoArt does have a 1:18 924 Carrera GT for pre-order:

Damn! Didn't realize this thread was almost 7 years old I was all excited! I'd easily pay $100 for an AutoArt-quality 944.

I've already got 2 Matchbox 944 Turbo's (red and black) and a ~1/24 Majorette 944 Turbo. But a high quality one would definitely rule.

Ahem. 924 widebody is "Coming Soon." That's close enough to me to my 944.http://www.autoartmodels.com/web/pro...94248B2A912AC8

Yes I saw that. I have it up on my screen in another window. Very very tempted to pre-order. Especially considering if I'd have had my say in a 944 Turbo model, I would've asked for black on black with Fuchs. The 924GT is damn close.

I have three good quality German-made 944 models if anyone is interested. Two are full assembled and one needs to be completed but all the parts are there. They even come with the correct sound effects.

They are 1:1 so they might take up a bit of room in your house.

That's the one I made. It's 1:24. Interestingly, the hobby shop had Guards Red in the little spray can.

wow talk about bringing a thread back from the dead! if any of you find that petition to the die-cast manufacturers: i created that shortly after this thread started too bad most of the signatures on it are spammers (shh, dont tell autoart that).

i have the minichamps 924 model in 1:18 and its pretty snazzy but yea... autoart was supposed to make a 944 in 1:18 but somehow never did. i wonder why?

I think the AutoArt 924 Carrera is as close as we'll come to a 944. It's historically significant. They would need to do new moulds to make a 944. I'll settle for this one.
