Default how to remove heater permanently

I've decided to remove my heater permanently on my track car. 83 NA.

Anyone have pics, advise on how to do this?

Can I just loop the hose back to the block?

Or, do I put in an entire block off plate?

Thanks.

I did this too. Although, I haven't removed the core yet. It also eliminates that pesky head bypass that is prone to leaking.

The later heater and a/c assembly are completely different. Pictures of the later removal may not help you much.

To remove the early a/c:

1- remove the dash and console completely
2- you will see the a/c system behind where the glove-box used to be. To remove this, take out all necessary nuts and bolts holding it onto the car. The only thing left holding it should be the a/c lines.
3-Un-bolt or (do what I did) cut them off with a saw. Not only will it be faster removal if you saw them in half, you'll be able to pull them through the firewall easily. Without doing so, I really don't see how to route them. The fittings are just too big.
4- At this point you'll be able to remove the blower motor from under the hood. There are 4... or 6 bolts holding it on. I don't remember. Un-bolt them all and use a flat head screwdriver to pry it up (black gook to weather-seal it onto the body). You could gut the blower and put the cover back on, or I would recommend cutting a piece of metal to fit and bolting it on to seal the hole.
5- clear out the mess of wires and cables that used to be connected to the climate control in the console.

I'm sure I didn't go in complete 100% order, but you get the idea. It's really simple. Just remove the dash and console and you can see everything just fine. It's easier to mess with than the later models since it's a very primitive set-up.

Good luck. PM me if you need some help. I could be a bit more detailed if need be.

On all our track cars we cap or block the port off at the waterpump. Block the port off at the back of the cylinder head. Get rid of the heater pipe above the headers.

Here are two other things to do. Make sure you pull all relays and fuses to anything you do not need or run. 20+ year old wiring under the dash can be prone to shorts and fires. You can also do this, simply cut off all the wires you do not need. Before you pull the relays and fuses out use your multi-meter to determine what wires are what. In other words stick the positive probe in the end of the wire connector and ground the other probe (all of this with the switch on). Now remove the proper fuse/relay. If the voltage drops to zero you know now you can simply remove the relay/fuse and cut off the wires as no current will be coming through.
