Can of Worms? What does a 944 actually weigh?
So I browsed the internet and found a bunch of different weights and a lot of dispute about what a stock 944 actually weighs.
In my case, I'm wondering about the weight of an early 944 without power steering.

Well, I recently weighed my 944S with a full tank of fuel minus the driver: 2993lbs
We were using a set of Longacre digital scales (which are really nice - I highly recommend them).
The front to rear ratio was 51%/49%....which is as expected.
Not sure that this helps you, but the actual weight of a car is going to vary depending on a lot of factors.
Wet/Dry, driver/no driver....different wheels, options etc.
So...unfortunately, that means you're going to get a LOT of different answers.

I'd bet 2900-2950ish stock.
I too am ~2750lbs stripped and caged with a couple gallons of fuel. I would estimate manual steering to save perhaps 15 pounds between the pump, fluid reservoir, and lines. IIRC a true 83 has a more minimal lower balance shaft cover with no provision for the pump, making it just a bit lighter.

i read somewhere that when the driver is sitting in the car, a majority of the balance goes to the left rear wheel about 65-75%. how accurate is that and how would that work with the front to rear ratio being at 51%/49% ??
or is my goolgeing of "Porsche 944" random articles seemingly waay off

Starting:
704LF, 733 RF, 645LR, 652RR,
When I got in it:
705LF, 788RF, 749LR, 626RR,
Balanced out it came to: 764LF, 732RF, 695LR, 678RR. 49.7% cross balance.
I have weighed stock cars in the past, but I can't remember what the numbers were. Turbos are around 3100lbs IIRC.

The car is set up with full coilovers, so that is how you distribute the weight from corner to corner. But at least you can see where the weight was distributed after I sat in it.
