Default Making my S a Daily Driver/ Denver, CO

Alright, so I've talked to a few of the Colorado people on here and my good Uncle Mr. Sam, has finally decided to give me my tuition reimbursement money so it's time to refresh the S. I've put together a list of things I'm ordereing from 944 online and would like any feedback as to additional items needed. Also, I will need help with this weekend project. I've got the timing belt/balance belt rollers etc. The water pump was changed 38,000 ago with a new one not rebuilt so I'm assuming it's ok. THe car has a seized lower balance shaft (currently running with no bs belt), so I'm replacing the bearings on the shaft, OEM suspension all 4 corners, plugs, wires, cap and rotor, ac/alternator/ps belts, and a front engine seal kit. Anyone willing to help? I can do pizza, beer, etc, or payment in exchange for your expertise. I have a set of tools thats pretty complete, but I don't have the special tools (flywheel lock, thingy to get sprocket off, tension tester?) I'm in the Green Valley Ranch area. Also, just replaced all 4 tires with Kumho ASX's now I need a good shop to do the alignment, any suggestions?

I often gets parts from rockauto.com, the cap and rotor are also used on some Volvos I think and can be had for less than $60 from them. For plugs I use Bosch Super or similar buck-apiece plugs.

Rockauto also has discount codes, typically 5%, if you search for them they can be found on various websites/forums.

I think I have a set of nice used rear shocks too, I can take a look around.

I have a flywheel lock, 9201, pin wrenches, etc. but I live up North near Boulder and might not be able to be there as easily as some of the other locals.

Also, I have the sprocket holder, but not the tensioner or flywheel lock, can anyone in the Denver area part with theirs for the weekend if you can't help out?

Consider WitchHuntering the injectors. And do the O2 sensor. Those can wait a bit to see how's she's running, but good bet she'll run a bit better after that. Same with motor mounts.

My S was a great daily for ~7 years. Too bad it's been relegated to occasional duty since I got the Carrera, which is not as good a daily driver (but I suffer through somehow).

Good luck.

FYI: You can get Koni Yellows (adjustable) front and back from Paragon Products for less. You will love the difference over stock!

Check all of your bushings!

i thought the adjustable koni yellows were only the inserts which require the strut assemblies to be modified. I don't know if the S is different, but my strut assemblies are sealed?

All you do is cut the top off the old strut housing, drill a hole in the bottom and reassemble with the inserts. Not difficult at all, I've done it twice. Paragon has a "how to" write up with all of the measurements on their website.

The difference between stock and the koni's are huge...you will not regret it.

It's definitely worth modifying the strut mounts and upgrading to konis all around. And as long as we still have some of your money to spend, 968 caster blocks are another great upgrade. Now's the time too since you'll be doing an alignment after the shocks.
