My 88 951 seems to have some tint to the hatch, door and side glass. Not a film, it just looks a bit darker than clear. Was factory tint an option then??
Thanks

When I broke a side window my glass supplier went to a lot of trouble to see if I had clear, green or brown/gold glass. (I had green). It is often the case that Aus spec cars came from the factory with air and tinted windows due to our climate. (plus they should for the $115k they were new here!) Maybe it was an option for USA. Mine is an 86, hope that helps.

Yes its a much different dollar here, only worth about 56c US. Back then in 86 it was in the high 70 to 80c US mark, so a big percentage of the price was a tax by the government to support/protect the local industry. Still the same now, a 996 Turbo costs A$309k, which translates to US$174k compared to US retail of US$116k. My 97 Boxster cost me new A$140k (US$79k) in 97. There is some pain in being a Porsche enthusiast in Australia!
