Battery Cable Upgrade Project
#46
Ice..
OOOOPPSS should of been more specific...
I have two vehicles...
I would want:
2 light kits.
2 negative cable kits (Unless you can convince me on the benefits of the Positive Cables as well.... I would not need much convincing)
I can send payment....and once you have the battery cables ready we can ship it all at once.
Thanks again,

Ever read the Ill Fated Rebuild, chapter 7 to be specific? You should, and then you should buy the positive cables. They will be in mine this time.

Max, thanks for the kind comments. I got you down for the positive.
Alex, MAN, you are going to be my biggest customer by far! <img src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" border="0" alt="[hiha]" /> These are both 924/944/951s you have?
We have to wait for some of the battery cable supplies to show up. Probably 10 days anyway. And I think you just pushed me over the edge on Cibie lenses I have laying around. I have some more in US Customs somewhere, but with the Holidays I'm not sure exactly where they are.
You want to listen to Perry951 regarding the positive runs. You don't want to duplicate his nightmare. <img src="graemlins/cussing.gif" border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" />
Max and everyone: You probably don't need to pull the intake manifold. In the prototype work I greased up the alt cable with Dawn dish washing soap in a looney effort to see if I could pull it through. The soap cleaned up my hands but the cable hold downs just snapped off into a million pieces.
This is on an 88 951S and the cable is held down by plastic clamps that are more or less dead. So you can yank the old cable out with a string attached, fish the new cable through with the string and cable tie at each end of the manifold.

Lee, send me a note once I get this project up & going. I put your name down on the list.
I just firmed up a silicon bronze bolt order for the positive fuse off the battery. Bronze is mostly copper, high conductivity, and I have seen how silicon bronze lasts in harsh enviroments in my salt sailing.
So you will all get a hidden asset in your battery cable kit.

Hey Ice
Just thinking about it dealing with my fuses here in the great white north.
What is the possibilty/benefit of getting an extra line (not a big munga one) to run into and attach to the dash type stuff, or even the fuse block?

Sid,
Look over the 1st post, this thread is getting pretty long. I went and did a run over to the fuse/relay block. So you can put that in. It is the #4 AWG sister wire connected to a 150 amp fuse that is bolted with silicon bronze hardware that I was just talking about.
This delivers a little over 1/2 volt extra when you load down with 60 amps. The fuse block is a POS, but we have to live with it and may as well get it the juice it wants.
The kit is shaping up to be a pretty slick deal. Too bad I probably won't be able to make more than 100 of these.

Dan, I need one (and I'm a loyal customer, so take care of me when you compile your list, ok? MAKE SURE I'M ON IT!)
Also, check your PM, about an additional lighting kit...

IceShark,
If you can't get more fuses, what happens if someone blows one of their fuses? Have you tried looking for dealerships that might stock some of these fuses for their cars?

Tabor, Oh, I'm going to eventually sort that out with LittelFuse. He is sending me so many fuses directly for free as an administrative expediency, and we will figure out a way to get me more.
I found out these are also being used buy some big yacht and heavy equipment manufacturers, so by hook or crook, I get them somehow.
