sorry to also hijack the thread, but Jon is there any chance you could post or email some of the dyno data you gathered? I'm just curious because there isn't a ton of dyno data out there for us N/A guys

And i'd buy this but it won't work on my car at the moment (low compression 1987 engine )

Sure Mike, I can give you more info on the engine work. No worries on the thread, I was having a bad kid/no coffee morning earlier (sorry thoen). Do you have a specific question? I'll send you a PM on specifics as I'm really not looking for an open discussion here on tuning an 8v as the common reply is to buy a turbo but the engine is done and I have a nice improvement from the starting point. The best part is perfect idle, starts, and temps. Suffice to say, Russell's chip was the least expensive HP you can buy for these cars, rear wheel hp. for a street chip like 2-3 peak but a much improved mid range feel.

mike,
Jonh's chip should work on your car! i replaced my maf and computer from my 83 and replaced them both with 1987 ones. works great, seriously!!! the wilk chip is, i think, as good, not
better.
i think for the $130., you CAN'T find anything that will improve your 944 more!!!!

Is this the latest upgrade 8828 chip code as shown on the maxhpkit site? If so, I am interested if it will outperform the autothority chip I have installed now. My car is an 88 NA

I believe that Jon said that his chip was for the 88 high compression engine, which I believe has slightly different tming characteristics (to accomodate the 10.2:1 CR)

I definitely want to get a new chip at some point, probably after I finish my dash restoration and exhaust. I'll definitely be going with a 944MAX when I do though - I've heard great things from just about everyone

For anyone who hasn't heard of these chips before, here's my review:
