Default Big Red (without the red) brakes for your 951. Interest?

The guys from the racing board said you guys might be interested in an easy upgrade to your brake system if you have a 951 with the 928 style S4 brakes.

You can turn your S4 brakes into the Big blacks with a set of radial spacers! S4 calipers and S4 pads are more than enough pad. the difference is the diameter. If you look at the stoptech ST40 13" set up, they use the exact same pads as the 928S4. The only difference is the diameter. If you have the same offset as the 928S4 rotor, you can use the 964T turbo rotors.
You will have more than enough brake to deal with the fade and better stoping power.

We are trying to get a group buy as I can supply the spacers to allow the modification . the difference in buying replacement rotors, pads vs this kit might only be a couple of hundred bucks.

If we can get 5-10 takers, the cost would be around $725 shipped, or $480 without pads. this is the cast hole rotors, 322mm, spacers to move the calipers out, and longer GTS caliper bolts. (and with pads, pagid black or orange racing pads)

Let me know if there is an interest

I'm a little confused.
The big red/993TT caliper uses a bigger pad than the 928S4/993 sized calipers and a 322x32 rotor vs. 304x32. The radial spacer will "widen" the throat of the caliper, but the designed rotor radius would still be smaller on the 928S4/993 caliper. Does the 322 rotor fit all the way into the modified S4 caliper throat? Is there a 2nd spacer to mount the caliper further out on the strut to accomodate the alignment of the 322 rotor? I guess the objective here is to fit a larger rotor into the 928S4/993 caliper which would provide better cooling and stopping. Is this correct?
Also, do you have to bend/buy new crossover lines since the caliper is wider?

Good questions.

its not the 993TT but the 964T 3.6Liter.

the idea is to move out the caliper, which is fine if you think about it as the Ferrari F50 uses the same sized caliper on a 14" rotor and is HUGE in the stopping department.

the only thing that you need to do is mount the system with the new spacers that push the calipers out, and you got it, grind down the edges of the calipers to house the bigger diamete rotor. 2mm of material at the edges about 1.5" inward is all you need to do. dremmel on both sides , takes about 5mins and gives stock clearance.

Would modifying the brake caliper allow someone to go back to stock-sized rotors in the future without any problems? What's the group price just for the spacer setup? I can always get 3.6T rotors later on...thanks.

How soon are you looking to do this? I'd need time to come up with extra money. Funding other things right now...

Looks good, the swept area would go up considerably but pedal effort would stay the same.

Not a lot of people have the radial mount calipers though and the hubs or adapters to make them work. Stock it'd be just the M030 944S2/951/968, 951S, 89 951 and the later ROW 951. You'd also need 17" wheels at least.

If you are adapting from axial mount calipers it might be better to just make an adapter for this configuration rather than adapting and then spacing out, or maybe adapting a monobloc caliper instead.
