Keyless Entry
Anyone installed(later on) factory keyless entry system on pre 94 cars? I think porsche introduced keyless entry from 1994 and only on 911's. I'll install one if porsche sell keyless entry system which works with the existing alarm.

For about $90 you buy a keyless entry system that will work with our "switching polarity" door locks. Any basic "keyless entry only" system will work with your existing alarm. Try this site:
Autoloc
In the search/category box select "keyless" entry.
I have not tried this specific system but I know people on the 968.net BBS that have had keyless entry installed and kept their factory alarm.
Regards,
Max

I've been thinking about adding keyless entry to my car for awhile. I have a factory alarm that is activated by locking the drivers side door. Well...I clicked on the link to Autoloc, and I just ordered a 3 fcn. keyless entry system for $90. I sure hope it wires in okay, and activates my factory alarm properly.

I'm happy for you.
I wonder if anyone out there has ever actually installed one of these systems. I installed keyless entry as part of a Clifford alarm system in my previous car, but that was somewhat different, as I had to add a servo to lock the doors for me.
This setup should just be a matter of wiring the keyless entry module into the existing power door locks. But I can't use the wire going into the power lock button in the center console, as that button locks the doors without arming the alarm. I want to lock the doors and arm the alarm together. Anyone done this, and know how the wiring works? Or did I just waste $90 on something that is incompatible with the car's electronics?

The first thing I did when I bought my car was install A keyless remote.I put six of them into other vehicles I have owned or family cars. They
are simple to install once you find the lock module wiring.I bought the units at Sams Club.
They are made by Bulldog Security. It will control the locks, disable the starter, open the rear hatch, flash the lightes, turn on interior lightes.
All this for $29.95,you do the labor!!!!
ha!You have to buy a relay for the rear hatch,$9.95.The oldest one that I still use is 5 years old never had any problems with any of them.
The factory alarm still works fine.

The sell $30 keyless entry systems at jcwhitney.com I know, it's cheapo mustang parts, but they work fine and are universal with just the lock/unlock/hatch release, haven't put on in the porsche yet, but have done 4 other cars euro and dom.

Now I find out about all the cheap deals...oh well. Danno...not sure I wanna go the whole shaved door handle route...then I'd need fuzzy dice and neon lights under the car, wouldn't I? After 3 years of having keyless entry with my Scirocco, I kinda got used to it. It rains a lot in Vancouver, so it's nice to just push a button while you're running to the car. Plus I'm lazy, so that's the clincher in the whole deal. Hey, I didn't even start this post, how come I'm the sucker who ends up buying the thing??

Would one of you PhotoSHop guru's do a shaved door 951?
Its not rice IMHO, I have seen some very nice looking cars with shaved handles. I would love it, just hit the button on the rwmote and my door pops open like Kitt on KnightRider, lol.

I am in the process of doing this on my 89, but I could not easily find the wiring to connect to, and have considered pulling the door panel and connecting in theree, and running another set of wires out with the bundle from the door. Connecting to the lock module sounds easier and smarter, does anyone have any tips on doing that? I have the manual on CD so I assume I can get the diagram of the lock module from there. Where is the lock module located?
I also plan to connect one of the remote channels to the hatch release. My keyless kit will unlock the car (disarming the alam) and pop the hatch with one press of the option key. I don't intend to disturb the factory alarm, just to have the effect of hitting the lock / unlock key switches and hatch switch by remote.
Thanks,
-Joel.

Don't go through all that work!! The lock module is right under the steering column.Easy to get to, took me about 20 min to install the door wiring & then the hatch wiring another 10 min.
