Danno - and everyone -

Perhaps we can make the video "required watching" during the day, or prior to. I appreciate the offer!

I've gotten a decent response to this. I think I have to chat with the boss (wife) and find a decent day. Weekend days are best for me, and Sat's usually work better than anything else.

So stay tuned!

Well my baby is back and running again. They gave it back to me last night and said something about a screwed up cog on one of the balance shafts. My translation is the mechanic did indeed discover one of the balance shafts was NOT in the right place. At least they didn't blame on the 'framus' and try to charge me more money!

Yes indeed Jay, I too would be interested in your timing belt session...especially since I'm all of 10 miles away! So do keep us posted! Doing it myself next time.

Cheers,

Steve

Well all - looks like we're having a tension your belt day in the great state of NH sometime soon.

I have a retention coming up anyway.

I'll post the information when I have a date in mind!

Oh - and no one with a higher HP/TQ output than my car is allowed! Just kidding - !

HTH!

Holy crap Danno, digitize!

I'd drive to NH for a belt day, but I completely can't. Crap crap. If it goes down, for the love of god, take too many digital photos. If you don't want to deal with them, send them to me and I'll Photoshop/webify 'em for you...I just sorta decided that I can't ever pay $1000 in "maintainance costs" ever again.

I'm starting another topic called Adjust your Belts day in New Hampshire - or something like that... We'll use that topic to get a date set.

Thanks!

Type_LT -

Check out the other topic - Adjust your Timing Belt Day I've started.

I've done some consulting work in Springfield MA. You're about 2 (less than) hours away - give or take a little.

HTH!

Steve -

I had the service manager of the shop you went to over the house for dinner Sunday night.

If you EVER have ANY issues with that place - talk to Dick - and tell him you're a buddy of mine. He'll insure it's fixed.

HTH!

The confusion on the post '86 models is caused by the fact that earlier engine used the "o" and "u" visible through the peephole in the guide washer on front of each balance shaft pulley.
"o" being visible for the top one and "u" being visible for the bottom for correct synchronization.
"o" for ober (over), top balance shaft, and "u" for (under) lower balance shaft.
Porsche later discontinued one of the sprockets and both are the same now, so for proper alignment you will see the "o" for the top and see nothing for the bottom as the "o" is not visible through the hole, but aligned with the locating tooth of the front washer.....

Confusing eh....?

Cheers all
Terry
