Do you have the the ejection port chamfered? What do you use for mags? Might also look at replacing the extractor.

.39 super hunh. Talk about funky.

Oops, didn't see that. You know what they say, big hands, fat fingers.

I'm not sure what the stove piping problem stems from, but I suspect it had to do with break in. Gov't models are rarely right when they are new unless you get one that was tuned by a good smith right out of the box. That is one thing I liked about my Sig, it never misfired.

The mags are stock, plus one Pachmayr mag, and have been deburred. The recoil spring is slightly heavier (hmm?), feed ramp is polished, the ejector port is slightly enlarged and chamfered. The extractor is stock (dumb) and I have been meaning to replace it. The stove piping is pretty rare and may have been a trade-off for the slightly heavier recoil spring. That was put in to fascilitate better feeding, though I am not sure that was sound logic (it was recommended by a smith I knew in Atlanta). I am wondering if maybe the rounds don't develop enough pressure to blow back hard enough and eject properly (again, perhaps faulty logic).

Not faulty logic. A too heavy spring could definitely cause that. Both by not letting the round push back with enough energy AND forcing the slide forward too quickly.

Then again it's not a new problem in goverment models. Been around since day one. Personally I have magazine related issues which I can take partial blame for. Hopefully these Barsto mags will solve that.

If I were you I would definitely see about getting a barsto barrell and talk to them. There is no-one in the world that knows more about government models.

Interesting to note as well that whil reading that Bren 10 site it turns out that Irv Stone of barsto had a hand in the design.

Hi, I just wanted to poke my head in here. My dad does most of the reloading for our guns(my Kimber CDP and his Colt Gold Cup) so I can't give you any good numbers. I can talk to him and see if he's got anything interesting to share. We've really just recently started to really track the loads so our data probably isn't the best. Good luck with whatever you find!

I like blue dot with 185 grain copper washed swc. Its pretty cheap to shoot and if you hand weigh them they are very accurate. I don't have the acp round, mine is an IAI automag IV .45 winmag with the 9 1/2 inch barrel and I can keep all 6 shots within the inner 2 circles at 25 yards with that combo of powder and bullet. If you don't want to use as much powder, go with a heavier bullet. I personally like the kick and the percussion I feel on my cheeks from the blast. I think I used 30 grains of powder per.

BTW the powder amount does not work for acp rounds. It was what I used for my .45 mag rounds.

Since were posting piccies.

Ken. While I like the Houge grips. They really ruined my accuracy. I don't like the look and feel of the Pachmyers that much but they put me on target much better. The really sad thing is. I bought that springfield brandy new. Put a barell on it to the tune of $800. Replaced the mainspring housing with the one from a $275 Norinco, took the Pachmyer grips of the Norinco and I think I threw away the Houges. And just last week I replaced the Sear and disconector with the ones from the Norinco and G*Damnit it feels much better. Next time I'm just spending the Money and getting what I want from Les Baer.

Oh yeah and I took that stupid guide rod out that came with the Springfield and put in the spring follower and cap from the Norinco. Still it's not as accurate as that stainless in the pics. Which is bone stock.

And while I think the .45 winmag is a decent powerful and accurate round, if I carried around a 9 1/2 inch barell people would think I had a tail or left something in my pants.

Actually I carry my Baretta FS92 with short barrel. .45 mag is just for fun along with the .44 mag super redhawk.

Yeah it's a MK 23. Technically it's not mine. Buddy bought and first he kept it at my place so his wife wouldn't know about it. Then they broke up and he moved in. Now he's with his girlfriend who has two kids, so he still leaves it here. Basically been in my possesion about 5 years, and I've shot it about 5 times more than he has.

Just got 5 magazines with it. The suppresor costs as much as the gun. If I get the money though I just might.

Solve the problem of the neighbor with the stereo he can't turn down.

My addition to the 945 club!

The M1 Carbine is a WWII era...the Gold Cup 45 is accurate as hell! Best with Remington Waddcutter 190's, IMHO.

Well, I like them alot better than what the Kimber came with. The front strap checkering they did was really rough on my hands. I tried a set of the wrap around black ones, similiar to the one on on your 'carry' gun, but when I put the Hogues on I really liked them. I think at this point I'm not consistant enough for my hold to make much difference. Once I get really confortable with shooting I can make small changes that will hopefully make me better. Just out of curoisity, what changes did you make to your hold? What were you doing "wrong" and what fixed it?

Freakin' germans. It is almost impossible to get a gun here. I believe the law states that even if you do own one that you can't keep it at your house and you can only shoot at the R&G club or as an organized hunting group. Really, hunting... organized??? A lot of them flip out when I tell them that you can purchase guns at the Walmart. Good ole walmart.

I know i'm in the military and everything, but I haven't even held a gun in 2 years. Being from tennessee and all, i sort of miss the fun of target shooting. Maybe again... someday.
