We had some 944 spec guys do that for car that ran the 25 hrs of thuderhill. The car completed the event with no mechanicals the plates took the abuse with Koni's just fine.

HELL NO!

I had the worst experience with those. I mean, I have Bilstein HD shocks and a brand called A-1 Racing coilovers (basically the same as the Ground Control set) so I'm not sure how different my setup would be from a set of Koni's, but those camber plates suck.

2 main reasons: first is that they raise the car when you installe them. They mount to the shock much lower on the car than the stock strut top mounts and other camber plate manufactures. Therefore, they raise the car up by about 2 or 3 inches. Well... I figured, no problem I will just lower the springs back down so I can get the car sitting back to normal. Nope.... once the car was where I wanted it, the shocks were completely bottomed out.

second reason: the ball joints would not budge. Even after driving the car around all jacked up for a couple days, they would not break free, and they caused the shock itself to turn, instead of the balljoint turning like it should. The car would pop and creak like crazy when turning.

Luckily I got my refund, after about a month or so. But what a waste of time.

Anyway, thats my opinion.

Interesting - does popping and creaking always come from the strut shaft turning? My '84 creaks and I've been trying to figure out why...

I have heard about the mookeeh plates raising the car, but I didn't know the ride height adustment couldn't lower the car enough without bottoming out the system - that sucks! Are there any more comments on this?

I have them mounted to my car right now with the Paragon ride height adj kit and 250 lb springs. I had mounted them to the bottom of the strut tower, and i was almost fully compressed so i swapped them to the top of the strut tower, shimmed up with a nut, so the bolt from the top went down through a washer, through the camber plate into a nut, through the car body, through a fender washer, through a regular washer, and into the bottom nut. Works great have about 400 miles on my setup now, I was concerned on the loads being localized to the bolts on the underside, but it should be ok, but I have a feeling i am going to make a plate to replace the fender washers under the body for more piece of mind and to spread the load.

Marky522 we ended up doing almost the same thing, we shimmed it up so they werent seized anymore, and luckily we had some lowering springs laying around so everything worked out perfectly

That's a great idea. If you ever make that plate, I'm sure many others would be interested in buying them.

I've got them on top of Bilstein Escort Cup coilovers. About 1,500 miles on them and 4 track days. No complaints.

Man you guys must be lucky. The ball joint is turning freely on both sides? After removing mine, both ball joints were still completely rock solid in there. No movement at all.

I thought about relocating them to above the body, but I was worried about the load on the undersie where the nuts and washers would be. I guess it would have been alright, but after being so pissed I just wanted to return them and eliminate all the problems. $200 bucks worth well spent elsewhere!
