Default Aerodynamic Balance of a 944

So I was wondering about the aerodynamic balance of a stock 944 NA. Turbo works too unless it is drastically different than an NA.

Reason I ask is because I'm in the process of adding a front lip/air dam onto my valence and I wasn't sure if that would throw off the balance of the car at higher speeds.

Does anyone know if the stock rear spoiler generates any downforce? If so, is it significant?

Is this on a track car or just the street? On the street I think the only thing you would notice is an increased tendency to scrape on steep driveways.

I have added and then removed, then added lip spoilers to other cars, no appreciable difference to me in those applications.

Interesting question... I don't have the answers... but I am curious on one thing:

What are you planning on doing speedwise with an NA that you'd be worrying about it?

That's pretty funny.

I have an S2 race car and am a PCA instructor. I added a lip spoiler to the front of my car in an effort to keep it from "wandering" too much at higher speeds and it did help a bit on the track.

Would I like a little more downforce in the rear? Sure, but it has not upset the balance by any appreciable amount.

The hatch spoiler?

As far as I know its significant. Its reasonably large.

Try tilting the sunroof open at speed and you'll feel a difference.

There are different kinds of lift and downforce.

Yes, the factory spoiler reduces the form lift a lot.

Hence my question -- what's the intention!

yea, over 100 or so the back feels really light with the roof open...

I had a gt racing splitter and it made the car handle much better at 140+

Seemed more "balanced" then before, only judging from the butt-wind-tunnel

Ok so good responses so far. Thanks guys.

I plan on doing a lot of DEs but this car is not a race car. Just building it up to eventually be track prepared.

I just enjoy the thought of making extra downforce and making the car a bit more track car ish.

I was curious if, in factory form, the car is reasonably balanced in the aerodynamic regard. Since I'm adding the lip, I didn't want to throw the balance off. I think a gurney flap on the hatch spoiler would do enough to counter the added downforce on the front of the car maybe.

"butt-wind-tunnel" ? Sounds very unappealing out of context....

id bet a 968 spoiler would be more than enough..hell, if youre going to track it maybe the adjustable TRS wing if you can live with its ugliness.

With the stock ride height the car seems a bit floaty in the front at high speeds

just my observation

Are gurney flaps even effective on spoilers? I've read up on how they may work on wings, but since spoilers don't have air flowing under them I'm not sure how they'll work.
