well every few minutes or so, like mid crank it'll start to turn over, but wont. So I imagine it's getting both. But i'm just wondering why it only does this in the cold. It's been running perfectly fine recently. It also did this about a month ago, it was like 15 degrees and wouldn't start, got a new battery, still wouldn't start. The next day it was like 40, started just fine.

I've never had any cold weather starting problems with mine (NA) using 10W-30 Mobil 1.. I would add some drygas first. Water in the gas will do it to ya with these temps....

Coil, try swapping your coil, I vote for Bad coil, how about a bad coil?

OR

Water in the fuel (no fuel flow = no start) due to ice in fuel lines/filter. Might want to track down the issue before you crack your fuel rail due to ice in the fuel... Or it could just be a bad coil...

First things first change your oil you should never mix different weights. Try some dry gas. Try flooring the gas while cranking. Water in the fuel line does sound interesting.

So the coil would keep it from starting only when it's cold? It's supposed to be as cold tomorrow, so i'm gonna wait until Saturday and it'll start up just fine.

Sounds like your DME is getting iceboxed.

Ive seen DMEs do this kind of thing, crank and tach will jump and everything.

The only way I found out it was a bad DME was by swapping DMEs. Id try that

Does anyone up north use a block heater? And also, is it a good idea or no to use one. I've got to have my car. Any ideas?
Of course it is a good idea to have a engine block heater if you drive your car during winter. It saves your engine, gas & nature. I suppose over 90% new cars sold in the Nordic countries have engine block heater installed.

Check out this picture taken from friends 951 engine. There is a Defa heating element installed. Norweigan Defa is a market leader in the Nordic countries, like Sweden,Finland & Norway. All cars in our family have Defa's installed, great product
You can also add easily Defa interior heater to this kit. It's nice to have warm engine & interior when it's cold outside.

i was several years ago in the Finnish Lappland and there was then -38C. had my Defa connected couple of hours and car started like in summer

When is the last time that you changed your fuel filter? You could have ice in the filter restricting flow.

Drygas.

Beyond that you need to check for fuel and spark, without knowing if you have fuel or spark you are just making a random guess. (as I just have)

I understand the spark fuel thing, but why would it only do it in the cold, it starts fine and runs fine when its not below 20, when it gets below about 20 degrees, it wont start.
