I'll be doing some seat replacement in the next couple of days (despite the weather, my brother got me a monkey suit)... what exactly does it take to unbolt the stock seats?

It depends on which model you have. Is it a early car(1985 and lower) or is it a later car (1985.5 and above)? If it is an early car there should just be four bolts, one at each corner. If it's a later car, it will have six bolts. The seats are fairly easy to remove.

Late cars have 6 bolts, but they are actually allen head inset bolts and not hex head bolts.
I think it is a 5 or 6mm bit. I use a set of small craftsman offset bit drivers to get at them. It's not hard at all with the right tools.

I just did this. Three bolts on each rail, two behind the seat one in front on each rail. The size is 6mm for the allen wrench. Be carefull not to strip the bolt or the head.

I had 3 on each side. Taking it out was easy, but putting in new bottom-mount Sparcos with a slider was a pain, I couldn't get the back inside bolt in very easily since the seats wouldn't slide as much and they didn't recline which made it harder to reach around the back.

make your life easier, before you start by a 6mm allen that fits on a socket. break teh bolt with the regular allen. curse a bunch, and put band aid on finger you just cut. then use allen on socket to get rest of bolt out.
installation is the opposite except for band aid. dont remove it till the job is done.
