i mean, hasn't this guy heard of FOD???

Hey, I resemble that remark.
However, I have to take umbrage to anybody crapping on the styling of Lamborghini! Reliability I can take badmouthing, but having driven Lambos on the streets, there is NOTHING that attracts more attention (including an F50) than a Lambo; Countach, Diablo, or Murcielago (but in that order)...and the attention is because the lines of the car are absolutely beautiful!

I always loved those grand nationals - they are truly the ultimate "point and shoot car".
But, as I recall, shouldn't there be more than enough room to get all of the plumbing to fit under the hood?
It's also a little strange to see one that needs a little paint. Most of these are garage queens that have factory perfect paint.
I wish he would have warmed up the slicks a little before launching in that second video. If he was racing someone else, he could have caused an accident by wandering into the other lane.
Wonder what kind of transmission he's got in there.
Nevertheless, a fantastic car.

But look at what this guy did when he got the tires hooked up:

8.510 @ 162.84 MPH... not something you see every day.

Enough room for plumbing? You've never seen under the hood then have you. You can't even see the freaking engine. The dist/coil assembly is almost bigger than 944 2.5 engine.
As to tranny, say what you will about the bowtie (I certainly hate them, GN is the only GM car I ever want to own) but they make some decnt trannies. Nothing to beat a Mobar 727, but still pretty tough.
One of the biggiest reasons for the good numbers on the GN is the Rear end. Definitely not highway gears. One reason why a GN will always beat a T-type even though they basically have the same engine.

My memory is a little distant on the inside of the GN engine compartment - I haven't read a Car Craft in a long time. But that engine compartment fits V8's in oldsmobiles, no? I know that the 3.8L V6 is a tight fit in a Trans-Am body, but I thought with the square-ish front-end there would be enough room.
What do you think these engines turn on the highway, using the 1/4 mile strip rear-ends?

YEah that engine compartment can take a v-8 (though rarely did) but with the Turbo V-6 it had
A. Huge dist and coil/ignition system
B. Intercooler the size of Deleware
C. Loads of plumbing
D. all sorts of on top bolt ons.
A buddy had one, he popped the hood for me one day. I was shocked. My first question was "How do you change the fecking plugs?"
Suffice to say the whole thing was full to the gills. Maybe some if it could be lost, but I doubt it.
P.s. Remember we can fit an Lt-1 but our engine compartment is still pretty full.

Race Car
Awesome power. I want to drive it down the 1/4 mile because anything that will blow away a gsxr 1100 will surely stretch your cheeks back to your ears a little, making a smile whether you like it or not :-)

Once in that area, you'll need to go TH400.
All Turbo Regals (GN, Turbo-t, T-types) had 3.42 gears. All turbo regals have the same engine no matter what the badges (84-85 and 86-87) For tons of info check out:
