Post What kind of BBS wheels are these?

And more importantly, what do they weigh? Apparantly they fit 944s...

Yeah, I saw those too. Was tempted to go after them for the turbo. I love the retro look but don't know what they weigh. Check that archives b/c there is a wheel weight web page referenced somewhere.

I am pretty sure they are called the RS. I also am pretty sure they are no heavier than the wheels that came stock on our cars. There were made in late and early offset and the late offset seem to be pretty tough to track down. The ones you show look like early offset. The late are kind of funky looking. There is a set of late (sort of) offset for sale in the latest Panorama.

Oh, and I realize both of you need early offset.

Trem. let me clarify, they are yours for the taking. I've got enough wheels at the house for now.

Those are not the BBS RS since I have silver RSes on my car. RSes are forged 3 piece wheels and have a zillion bolts around the rim to hold it together and have a central "nut" and plate to cover up the lug nuts.

I think BBS made that wheel as a cheaper/down scale alternative to the RS look.

While I don't have an actual weight, they are clearly heavier than the cookie cutters. I have a set of Fuchs, cookies, and these BBS for my race car. I was shocked to realize just by picking them up how much heavier the BBS are over the cookies. My BBS will for sure be my rain wheels.

Michelle,

I thought we figured that yours where early offset. Do you have the actual offset for all of them?

George,

I was actually right arm scaling (kind of like seat of the pants dyno) those in comparison to my Design 90s, which seem quite heavy though I haven't actually weighed them yet.

So does anybody actually know what they are called? I have only ever seen them called RS, regarding either the 1 piece or 3 piece. Either that or folks call them "web style" like the old 924 wheels.

Forget it then, my cookies look good. I was hopinh they'd be super light and I could sell my refinished guys to pay for 'em.

The ones in the pic are early offset...I thought they were RS 158/159's or something, but, in any event, they weren't on the wheelweights.net site.

Those are the ones that used to be put on BMW's from the factory.... Thats one of the things I like about BMW, they have deals with BBS so they come on the cars stock...

I think Dale's944 (user#9114) has those wheels. You could PM him with questions.
