What is the reason for getting camber plates? I have non-adjustable KLA upper strut mounts on my S2 as a replacement for the OEM rubber mounts. I can run as much camber as I want (>-3 camber with some manipulations). Camber plates are nice for bling, but not required on a 44 to set camber.

You must have magic struts. Most OEM 944s are limited to about 2 degrees negative, and THAT is with some manipulations.

I've gobbed some heavy grease around the bearing. That should block the grime (as long as I clean and re-grease periodically).

Nothing magic. Bilstein Sport Cup on a PCA stock class car. For PCA CR, Camber Plates must be pinned in the factory stock position, so it made no sense for me to spend the money.

The OP was talking about doing suspension work which I took to mean Koni inserts or something similar with heavier springs.

At this price... these are hard to pass up. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MK1-P...spagenameZWDVW
The next closet and still more than twice the price are...the KLA mounts.

Any thoughts? Car is basically a street with some DE events. I'm kinda leaning toward the KLA's just because it's essentially a beefier stock set-up and I really don't know if I need that adjustability for the type of driving/use I'm going to be doing.

I have the monoballs no complaints so far. This is ground controls info
The Ground Control camber plates feature two sets of bearings, a proprietary bearing, made to our specs by Aurora in the USA, which allows for articulation of the shock shaft. This spherical bearing is very understressed, as the Ground Control design does NOT support the weight of the car on the spherical bearing. Instead, the weight of the car is supported by a completely separate articulating needle bearing, which is also manufactured for Ground Control in the USA.

the last sentence is something to consider

That's a good point...has there been any noted failures of the Mookeeh camber plates due to this added stress on the bushing? Any thoughts on the KLA monoball mount @$199 ? Ground Control listed @ $299.
Thanks

I really wish I would have known of ground control before I bought the monoballs I really regret getting the monoballs just because for 100 more I could have gotten the ground-control. I would have gotten the rear coil overs as well.

I hear the bearing does not last that long. I would suggest getting camber plates. the monoballs for 200 do not come with the camber plate. They are just the upper strut mount. once again for 100 more3 its a better deal.

The Ground control plates sound like they are built similar to the Porsche ones, they will probably outlast the Porsche mounts which means they'll last forever. Personally I can buy that spherical bearing for 20 bucks all day long, so Im not worried about the MK1 wearing out. Its still plenty strong to do the job, I just won't expect an infinite service life.
