A quaife differential is on my list of things for my 951. The 951 really needs it with the amount of power it can put down, even the n/a will really benefit from one..more so on the track than what you will probably notice on the street though. Coming out of a tight corner at an auto-x with the inside wheel spinning and roasting the tire is not fun, it also makes for not a very predictable car to control in a power on slide.

Not to mention when your stuck in the snow (or any place with reduced traction) and that one wheel thats stuck up is spinning all your power away...you will want a limited slip.

Also doing a burnout with only one rear wheel spinning is really lame..its called peg leg for a reason .

For the record, ABS is standard on 89 and forward non-na 944/951/968s. LSD is an option on all but the 89 951. I dont understand the bitching about ABS on a 944. It takes a lot to get into it, a lot more than most cars. I felt it on the track a few times, and the few times it kicked in, i know i was going into the turn too hot, so it was reassuring to feel it to kick in. for all the hotshots knocking abs, remember abs was designed to help the driver defy the laws of physics, which resulted in quicker times because you could steer and brake at the same time.

Does it affect the value of a car? Hell yeah!!

How much does it affect it? Well a quaife on a 968 is cheaper than a quaife on a 944/51, and runs about $2000+-. Guess how much less i was willing to pay for a 968 that didnt have LSD?

But that was because i wasnt going to get rid of my 90 S2 unless i got a car with LSD, and since the clutch was just done, i wasnt paying to go into the box again.

Same for 030. I wanted the 030 shocks i had in my S2. I liked the way it felt. In fact, i would say that the koni yellows at a minimum are a requirement for a 944. To quote Tom Pultz when i asked if my 68k mile shocks on my first 89 S2 were ready to go he said they were shot the day the car left the factory. He was right. Day and night difference. I added the cost of swapping suspensions to the price of whatever i was looking at.

fortunately i found the sacred virgin of 944s, the unmolested prom queen with standard lsd, abs, and 030 with under 50k miles. unfortunately the kamikaze civic messed her up the second time i had her out. it cost me only about 6k-7k to go from my S2 to the 951 with full 030, and lsd, and 23k less miles, and all original paint. well scratch the original paint part thanks to the kamikaze.

Hey, ya know whats cool? between this post and the one directly above it there are pictures of four of the six 944s ive owned.
