Word, I'm pretty sure Sunset sent me the OC-75 too when I ordered a filter from them.

There was some discussion a year or two ago about using the 928 filter in the 944, and someone said there was no anti-drain valve in the 928 filter.

I have no idea what it looks like, so I couldn't tell from the pics

You wouldn't be able to from those pics. You need to cut open the filter element. There should be a rubber flapper valve in there (like the think in a toilet tank, but smaller). That's all it is.

There might be two OC-75's, one for the 928 and one for the 944, but this OC-75 has a 944 part number and an anti drainback valve

On the subject of filters, consider the Canton-Mecca 6.25 inch spin on oil filter to fit 944. Replace your stock oil filter with this permanent filter canister that uses a replaceable filter cartridge.

Stock/street filters have a bypass valve otherwise elements will blow out as their flow capacity begins to diminish due to contaminent build up and when the old is cold.

The Canton-Mecca filter has no bypass allowed by it's solid billet construction and will continue to filter your motor oil at all times. These filters are easily disassembled to inspect for signs of engine damage. Plus, eliminates the oily mess when removing the stock filters as you can just remove the top off the filter housing and replace the filter cartridge.

This filter is equal to 4 Fram filters in flow rate and filtering capacity. The high flow material is in a steel cage that cant blow out. This filter is made of synthetic material which is not affected by moisture by the more common paper fillters.

Unfortunately, the anti-drainback feature in this filter consists of a rubber washer that doesn't hold enough pressure at start up to prevent dry starts in the 944, where the filter is fitted upside down. These filters are meant to be used with a dry sump. I have a new one never installed for this very reason.

Not true, have used these on my three 944 race cars, with no dry sump, for the last 8 years, and they have worked great.

Are you selling your new unused Canton Mecca? Do you have the older or newer style?

Long time Rennlister Michael Manning reported having repeated dry starts from his Canton Mecca on his 924S for the street. Not sure about race applications.

Yes, I have an old style (4 allen bolts) unused Canton Mecca and replacement element. Was saving it for a dry sump someday that never comes.
