I thought this would be a little informative to everyone - the made in Austria filter (OC-75, p/n 944.107.201.03) on the left vs the made in U.S.A filter (LS-154, p/n 944.107.201.08)

Whatever filter you use, make sure it has an anti-drainback valve. Otherwise when you shut the engine off, the oil will drain back into the oil cooler and the filter will have to refill before the oil gets to the 1.main/rod bearings, 2. balance shafts, and 3.camshaft. The noise you hear comes from the valvetrain.

Both are quality filters compared to some of the other's I've opened in terms of construction. The OC-75 looks to have more filtering area than the LS-154, as well as being able to hold a little more oil (never checked the actual difference, I'd estimate 1/4-1/2 quart). I added a pic to the first post to show the difference in the base of the filters.

Not sure this is a fair comparison. The Mahle on the left, OC-75 is the longer, 928 size filter, whereas the one on the right LS-154 is the same size as the shorter Mahle OC-142, also made in Austria.
Not doubting the Mahle OC-75 in the photo looks to be a better filter than the one on the right, but I think we'd also need to see the innards of an OC-142 before drawing conclusions. Great photo, btw!
As for buying Mahles online, last February I ordered 2 packs of 3 OC-142 for $16.95 each from www.joetlc.com.

You can get them for $5.85 each at autohaus too, plus free shipping over $50. So I have always used OC-142, Should I switch to OC-75? I never knew there was an alternate Mahle filter. What does it say is the OC-75 for?

Nothing wrong with it, it's a high quality filter as well. The OC-75 will allow you to run longer oil change intervals (if you're oil is up to the task) as well as allow you to put more oil in the engine (remember oil is a coolant also)
