Water leaks in rear passenger compartment
This problem had me stumped for months. I thought about changing the hatch gasket and the sunroof gasket $$$. I could never spot the leak even when I sat inside the car during a heavy rain. The carpet would be dry, but I could feel water. It's crazy. But I have found the culprit.
Check the drain by the fuel filler cap. Either over time or by cro-magnon gas attendents, the hose can become disconnected. So when it rains, the water does not run into the drain tube, but inside the car under the carpet and collects in the rear passenger floor.
It's a simple matter to fix, remove the ring that holds the rubber gas flap and gently manipulate the gasket, so that you can pry up the drain tube, a small screwdriver is helpful, mind the paint.
Thread the tube up through the gasket opening, replace the flap, and check again after the next heavy rain. Now I have a dry floor and the cost to fix was $0.
