Going to visit some family during the Christmas break and sealing the deal... Some of the best things in life are free - especially P-cars!

Bad move 944S Boyeee...Best advice I can give you is to walk away...NO, run away...

Next, send me his address and I'll head out and take care of that annoying problem for you...

Way I figure, it is the least I can do for another Canadian brother...

HeHe...Good Luck with it...Sounds like fun!

The 912 is a great car, assuming all of the sheetmetal is still on the car. I love mine and with the 2.4L Type IV motor in the back, it'll leave my 924S (and therefore most N/A 944's, 16 valve included) in the dust!

The biggest plus here is that it's free. Even if you don't do anything with it for a long time, grab it and park it. The 912's are actually starting to become valuable as people are beginning to prefer the early 911 style. The only "fin" you should consider would be the 73 Carrera RS ducktail and even that would look a little silly. The 67 is one of the short wheelbase cars (they extended the wheelbase 2" in 69 on 911/912 for better handling) but this isn't a problem with the light weight 4 banger hanging out back. The suspension is identical to the 911 of the same year so with the same rubber, a 912 will out handle a 911 every time. Of course, in a straight line... you know.

Check out www.912registry.org for more info on these overlooked cars.

Worst case? I'd be willing to come all of the way across the country to grab it out from under you if it comes to that!

i love the lines of the 912.....dont change them...adding any body mods to a 912 imo will make it look tacky. theres a guy up the street from me who has an orange one...its simple lines are what make the car so beautiful. dont worry about power, the cars 40 years old... hell at the worst if you decide its too much of a problem, part it out for real cheap to the 912 guys.

DITTO!

I would love to have a 912 or 914 but I only have so much time/money to throw at my toys, good luck but beware!

IMHO the 912 is a gorgeous little car and they are getting harder to find (nudge nudge wink wink) so may not be a bad idea to restore it to original.

Oh and more horsepower does not always equal more fun, throwing around an extremely light car with fantastic brakes and suspension while you wring every last pony out of that flat four... hmmm did I mention that I would like to have a 912/914?

and lastly... mention Porsche and rice in the same sentence again and I will have to report you to the P-car police.

Nice 912. I like the originality of the car. If it was me I would'nt even be asking this question. I'd be asking about restoring.

Originality? My 912? Looks are deceiving my friend. Hiding out back is a big bore 2.4L 914 engine putting out ~150hp. Underneith is all 930 suspension (lowered) with Carrera brakes and big Weltmeister sway bars. Inside the right front fender lurks a Turbo oil cooler where the original battery box (1 of 2!) once lived. Still, I do love the original clean lines of the early 911/912 and will not be cluttering it up with spoilers, skirts or any other drag-queen make-up.

I love my S the way it is and eventually may get a Turbo - but if I have this 912....I can work at it and add a fin and perhaps a different engine. I'm guessing it would be "easier" to put a 911 engine in a 912, as opposed to a 944 or something.

911 engines are cheap, right???

90 Horses - whaaaaaaaaa????? Man, I'd be in Rice range!!! I guess they handle pretty good though. Hate to have to balance those carbs!!

I'll keep people updated on what happens and post some pics if I get it.

ACK don't put afin on that car, it will look really out of place. The only thing u you could really get away with is maybe a ducktale.

Thanks for all the feedback...

By the way, the comment on adding a fin was a joke. Damn - that car is tooo pretty to touch.

I think the reason he hasn't wanted to sell the car before is because his wife didn't have a say. They are getting a divorce and I have a funny feeling he wants to get rid of it before she gets it. He just mentioned this whole thing to me on Friday.....I had talked to him before about the car and he never mentioned selling it or anything...something must have happened. He was just in again today and I asked again about "giving it a good home". I asked if he had any service records....turns out he is the original owner - that's always a good thing!

That picture that was posted of the Orange 912 parked next to the Red 944 made my heart flutter. I have a Red 944 and that 944/912 combo looks damn good. This 912 is blue though.

I'm still working on it, but I don't have any storage space right now......I'm gonna start a thread about storing P-cars outside for the winter.

Ooooohhh, it's a nasty divorce sale, I get it. He'd rather give it away than let his wife see any of the money.

Hear about the new Divorce Barbie doll? She comes with all of Ken's accessories.
