Thumbs down An RX-7 posing as a 944?

Well I was minding my own business surfing the net when I came accross this...

At first glance I thought it was a really bad body kit for a 924... then I realized that I was on an RX-7 board and looked closer. It is definatly a 1st gen RX-7 under all that fiberglass (look at the wheels). I wounder if this classifies as rice or sauerkraut?

Here is the url... <a href="http://www.rx-7.net/1gallery.mv?browse+85" target="_blank">944 wanabe</a>

What new offense against good taste and common sense will people not next commit?

(I should just put that line in my signature)

Well the older RX-7's and the 924's do look very similar so in the way that the 924 evolved into the 944, I guess the RX-7 did too

Umm, Actually thats an IMSA racing body kit. I think it was modeled after the IMSA cars that dominated in the early 80's. Mazda may have even sold the cars in that trim back then as a special edition. A girlfriend had once back a long time ago. I had a sport suspension and other goodies. The rx7 was modeled on the 924 to start, so it not really suprising that in racing trim it would look like a 944.

Well its kinda like getting your girl a boob job, you like her a lot and you don't want to get rid of her but she could always use a little "enhancement".

it is a first gen, you can tell by the door handle.

the world is full of imitation, just look at all the sports cars that followed the 944. All of them resemble it in some way, some more than others.

so next time you guys see a junk fiero with a kit to make it look like us, think of it in a good way because they are trying to copy of the best

How the hell could you ever make a fiero look like a 944? It has a mid engine, and no hatch back?

I saw a new MR2 with the license plate POR71A the other day. Naturally I was disgusted. I doubt they were expressing their love of Shakespeare.

both of those kits were around since the rx7 first came out. maybe the first kit came out even before the 944 came out. seems the rx7 and 924 flaired their fenders for the same reason. the second picture is a standard 85 "custom silver metallic" rx7 with the aero frint bumper from the victoria bitish catalogue -or any rx7 cat alogue in the early80's

the tailights on the first are another story altogher.

having owned 4 first gen rx7's that duck tail spoiler on the back was ugly then and is ugly now!

hmmm, looks more like a 1st gen rx7, than a 944 to me? From the doors up, it's Pure Rx7 OLD SCHOOL.

IT probably rusted to HEELLLLLL, so he did "that".
