Default houston i think i got a problem

well i've got several, but only 1 reffering to my car. anyways, on my way to work, i downshifted from 5-4-3. i cruised through the turn with no issues, when i pressed the gas i got a thumping sound from under my shifter(no shifter boot). it continued in each gear and at all rpm's. i thought maybe something was off or something. so i let the car sit at work, thinking it may solve itself. well came outta work got in the car(30* outside) started it, no issues. let it sit for a minute or two, and then the thump started again. drove it home and it continued.

at first i thought trans or clutch, but they are fine, as it also happens at idle. i then thought lack of oil, but i just did that last week. all that it leaves me with is plugs, wires, or an exhaust leak. thte car doesn't want to accelerate either. i was tired and it was too clold to do anything tonight. but i have it parked level and i'm going to check plugs and wires tomorrow morning. what else should i consider?

so does the thump happen even when the car is sitting still? or just when moving? under acceleration? braking? cluth in/out?

those should help narrow it down a little bit

it happens at idle(so yes sitting still). when i started it this morning it sounded like a mid 80's MB diesel. the clutch was replaced this time last year and has maybe 10k on it, unabused at that(learned 1500 isn't cheap for a clutch). i'm unsure of the engine mounts condition.

the wires and plugs were all good, and the tach didn't jump around leaving me feeling that the cyls are all fine.

based on some sounds i heard today driving home it's an exhaust leak, it's just that kinda thump. the sound it creates, i think it's big enough that i could see it if i could narrow down where it's coming from in the pipes.

if it's the pipe, any suggestions on a good performance orrentated replacement?

well finally got the time to put the car in my garage and open the hood and jack the car up and take a look. found the issue, the rear cyl, exhaust pipe(meeting block area) one bolt was loose and the other MIA. tightened up what i had and it's much smoother, going to take a ride over to my P-mechanic and get another and put it in 2morrow.

however, i decided to check out the air filter, when i took it out there was some oil in the airbox, the back corner as mine's not mounted properly to the wheel well area. what could this come from?
