Default Bought a 924SE Tonight

It took months but I finally found an '88 924SE in the midwest. I bought it sight unseen from someone who didn't care it was an SE. Now that it is here I'm thinking I might have gotten a little too excited when the guy rattled off the 030 and 756 option codes. She's rough.

Does the "E" Mean European car? I have never herd of and "SE" before.

Pretty sure that's like the clubsport. I thought it was "CE" but whatever; it's a very rare and sweet option.

It's a "lightweight" option that includes crank windows, manual mirrors, a cloth interior and the sport suspension. I believe there were only 500 sent to the states.

very cool...post some more pictures when its light out! Looks to be in ok condition for a 20 year old car in those pictures, but unless you have recent receipts, you should still strongly consider doing some basic preventative work (belts, rollers, water pump, oil change at the least)

Yeah dude I would have bought it too. I don't think it would have met SCCA stock class rules because of the low production, but it makes a sweet club racer. Somebody on here has one. Congratulations.

I'm officially jealous.

nice find. I wanted an SE after I had a customer bring me one with a broken T belt. After the head work the car ran great. I tried to buy it from him before the work was done and he almost sold it to me, he backed out which is ok, he was a great customer and really liked his car. I wound up with a sunroof delete 87 which I bought from the original owner with 52000k.
Take your time with your new car and make it really nice. I would not make it a track car because there are lots of junkers to go wheel to wheel with. An 924SE makes a wickedly sly street car.

thanks. I'll get more pictures up after thanksgiving. I got a first look at it in the light this morning. When the guy said, "Of course it has the original paint" he forgot to mention that the original paint is only on the roof... The car is 3 shades of black. No time to figure out how badly it was wrecked or where. The driver's door is not original and they forgot to align the door when they welded the hinge. In all, the car was not properly described and i paid way too much... crap.

With that aside, how can I tell if it still has the m0303 suspension on it? I don't see yellow koni's.

You could check the sticker first. I think the sticker is in the spare tire compartment (because it is on 944s), but I'm not sure it's in the same place on yours.

yep, the sticker is in the spare tire compartment on the 924's, too. the codes are there, but I'm wondering if someone along the line swapped the suspension. The shocks aren't yellow. I'll look tonight to see if the struts are adjustable.

How thick should the front sway bar be?

awesome man, and you are in stl too? we should hang out sometime. i bought my SE 4 years ago now? if you need any info just let me know. mine did not come with the M030 option, but if yours does have it, maybe they replaced the koni's along the way. if you dont mind me asking how much did you pay? i paid $3000 with 107k and neither the PO or I knew that it was an SE at the time.
