I believe the seat belt/airbag designations are
correct, but the engine size thing is weird.

My 88 924s was WP0AA0921JN4 and it of course
had the 2.5l engine and no airbags.

My 94 968 is WP0AA2967RS8 and it has the 3.0l engine and dual airbags.

Everything else lines up with the decoder posted from the .au site above.

By the way, the VIN digits reserved for USA most
certainly do contain info about the airbags. Olli
is posting from Europe...doesn't apply there...those
digits are ZZZ for ROW.

here is a scan from a Boxster owner's manual that
confirms that the ZZZ digits in question are used
on USA cars for
body type "C" for cabriolet
engine type
restraint system
Now, what a "B" engine type is, I dunno.
You aint sportin' a 944 diesel there, are ya?

What is weird, is my AB0. Can someone translate? I have gotten a few different answers to what the AB0 is.

A=Coupe?
0=Seat Belts?

What is B?</strong><hr></blockquote>

I as well have an '87 944 N/A w/ the AB0 code.

And I have the 2.5l engine, with the 8v head. I guess it COULD be a 3l block (I never measured the bore), but the head is definitly an 8v head.

Yes yes that's it!
Porsche has conspired to sell larger engines than they advertise!
I can't believe we didn't catch on sooner.

Nope, the factory turbo cars were 1989-1992 4cyl Turbo's. 1993-1997 got aluminum 4 cam V6's - Non-turbo. The turbo setup is my own beast/creation. The turbo is a Garret T3 .48/.60. Here are a few pics. Stripes are factory, so dont immediatly throw up the rice flag

I started a new thread for you guys interested:
