Default Tales of a broken timing belt

Hello folks. After two years of reading I have a question. 1987 944 NA, timing belt broke while idling in the driveway. Bought a rebuilt head, gasket set, injector rebuild kits, water pump, and belts and rollers. Just got it back together and have one problem. When I try to start it, it fires and dies. Put my foot into it and it runs and at 4000 rpm and sounds very smooth. Between 4000 and 5000 rpm I can hold it and it's great. Slowly bring it down and it misses and dies. Man, I've looked all over for a simple mistake. Is there a check valve I didn't put in? I saw a small ball bearing laying by the fuel rail. Not sure where it came from. My kids take alot of stuff apart and it could of rolled into my parts. Not sure. Any ideas will be great. Happened in August, so it has been sitting for a few months. Thanks

either the air meter is not plugged in, not secured to the j-boot, or you have a big vacuum leak.

A small bearing seals the end of the fuel rail.
It goes into the end (its too big to actually go into the rail) and then the end cap holds it in place.

I'll check the connector tonight. I hope it's that simple. I really took my time on this to get it right. Unless there is some vacuum line underneath the intake, everything is intact. As for the ball bearing, I never took the end cap off the fuel rail so it must not have come from there. Thanks for the help guys.

Extra parts left over are my forte anyway :P
Otherwise you are right, it probably didn't come from the car.

Good luck on the search for your leak!
