Default Tire tread depth gauge recommendations?

I want to get a tire tread depth gauge...any recommendations?

mechanical or digital?

I've found the nickel models work better than copper. The downside is they're 5x more expensive. They're pretty easy to find either way.

I have a mechanical and a digital, the digi was only $20 from our Cornwell guy, but for personal use the one pictured would be fine.
