Post Got a new exhaust today, and I really love this one...

Today my car went into my friend's shop....again.. At least it wasn't there to get anything major fixed *knock on wood* I used to have a Dynomax Ultraflo on the car but it was rattling so I took it to him to get a new muffler fitted up. When he took it off he showed me inside it and the perforated tube that was welded in there had come loose and shards of fiberglass insulation falling out through the holes burned and smelly. He recommended a Flowmaster 40 series since he just finished a 944 here from the PCA with a header and bypass similar to my setup. So I said ok...

I'll tell you one thing...this car sounds AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! No more rice rocket sound from the straight thru muffler and this baby really sings! It's a little too loud for the road but I'm not complaining Sorry if this is taking up board space but I'm really excited about it since I finally have a nice German tone back into my car.....just amplified to about 100 dB.

How much does a Flowmaster run, and is it bolt-on? I'd like to replace my ratty looking original exhaust with something nice.

As a side note, my friend's Astrovan has Flowmasters on it...yeah, we get weird looks...

Any chance you can record what it sounds like and put it into a .wav or .mp3?

Flowmaster to my knowledge doesn't make cat backs, at one time i tried one and you must purchase a universal muffler then fit it and weld. If you get a flow master, make sure it's the louder unrestricted one cause the other ones sounds kind of wimpy.

Techno Duck I just did a tape on my camcorder of it, bad thing is, it's an Analog VHS-C Panasonic so I need to have it converted to MPEG on my cousin's computer since he has RCA's on the back of his video card.

iloveporsches, I got mine installed for 135 bucks (w/ California tax) and custom built catback piping and still retained my stock tip! You can pickup a flowmaster at www.jegs.com which is where I got mine for only 60 bucks. They have various kinds of Flowmasters, from loud to quiet ones. BTW if you are aware of how these cars need backpressure than a Flowmaster may be the way to go...

Whats nice about the flowmaster is it reduces noise thru shaped baffles, so back pressure is reduced and it gives the exhaust a deep, throaty tone (not rice). Mine is in with custom larger diameter tubing (require mandrel bent for better flow), using the OEM flange, and the OEM header/cat, but a custom large diameter stainless tail piece. You definetly here me coming... and going.

I had a Flowmaster 40 series on my 944na, less than 5000 miles on it, 2.5" in/out.

Yes it's available ;-) Make an offer that would include shipping (I think it was like $70 new)

I replaced it ironically with a dynomax superturbo to take the edge off on long drives to the track, but loved being a delinquent on the street prior! (Before this was a Glasspack!)

I do have a little video of me (w/ flowmaster)going around 1-6 at BeaveRun if someone whats to host it...

MSDS Headers, test pipe... that thing would ring!

I would be very intersted in hearing this as well. I had dual 3" 40series Flowmasters and no tailpipes with headers and 3" headpipe on a very built 355 Chevy and loved every minute of it...too bad the cops didn't. I am really wanting to find out actually how loud a header and testpipe would be with my particular B&B exhaust now, or something similar...say with GHL, SFR, etc.

Take Care All!

I have it here at work, send me an email <imports@dayauto.com> and I can shoot it over.

Anyone else is welcome too, of course.

It would take me about an hour to send it from home so catch me here!
