did the pistons get damaged at all after contacting the valves?

Ask the PO if they are still on rennlist.


Also, 6000 miles ago could have been 1997.

I'm no belt expert, but looking at that closeup of the belt, that doesn't look like old age to me. You can see that it is worn down to the steel cords in the belt. It looks like that was wearing away for quite some time. Was there a lot of rubber dust in the covers when you took them off? I can see dust even in the picture.

I can only speculate that the the belt was on too tight and wore right through to the cord. Then the teeth were able to easily shear off and that was that.

Almost looks like tension failure. When mine went it too off several teeth....

i have seen this car in person before it was whisper's. the PO drove it to my house in san diego to deliver some parts i bought from him and it was in good shape.

whisper, does it still have the racing seats in it?

Yeah, this car is special, even for a well-cared-for 944. Neglect just isn't a possibility here.

No, it has two "script" seats. (I have the back ones, but I left them out of the car). People always remark on how comfortable they are.

I think I have the beginnings of a plan for the car. I've sent you a PM.
