Unhappy Its true!!!!!!!

Alright... This is my story!

I was driving around the other day in my 944. I saw something like 8 boxsters and 1 996. So I was like sweet I wave and they look at me like I am a dumbass (every single one) So I give up! No more waving to boxsters. If they want to wave they can wave to me then I will wave back. I am ok with knowing my car is better.

Haha, I still love the guy I talked to with a Boxter S.
I ask,
"Hey that's a nice S, what do you think about it's big brother?"
My car is next to his and he is walking up from behind both of the cars. He says,
"Yeah, this is actually faster than the 911."
I say,
"Oh, I meant MY 944 'S', not the 911."

...most dumbfounded face I've ever seen as a response. Of course, the conversation led to him being interested in joining the PCA...I gave him the website.

I hear ya. I experience that same thing all the time. I've wondered if Boxster owners wave to eachother... I think most of them are not true enthusiasts like the rennlisters over on the Boxster board. They'd wave back I'm sure.

I think many Boxster owners for the most part are not real enthusiasts. Some are but I think the majority aren't. The low lease prices that Porsche was running put a lot of people into a Porsche that were just looking for a status symbol to drive to the golf club. I think a lot of 944 buyers back in the '80s fall into the same category. There were a lot of yuppies who just bought a 'Porssh' just to pick up chicks.
When more & more Boxsters find they're way into the used car market and prices keep depriciating, more real Porsche enthusiasts will be buying them.

In several years, the 989S will be like the 968 is now. More enthusiasts who actually care about the car and not just the hood badge will be behind the wheel.

For new 911s and Boxters, I do the fingers off the wheels wave unless I see something from them. Old Porsches get enthusiastic thumbs.

I had a wicked encounter with a Boxster on the way back from the airport. I was coming off the onramp to the highway, faster than he was coming in the fast lane! I weaved past a couple of cars and he tried to keep up. I let him pass at a spot I know cops like to tag cars, and we both waved to each other with big cheesy smiles.

He even waved as he took the exit just ahead!

there is hope!

i had a good experience over the weekend..
on the way up to lexington for the vintage races at mid ohio, i was driving the burgandy bomber up and saw a carrera in front of me on the freeway. caught up gave him the wave from behind, and he raised his hand waving back. i then pulled up next to him, he gave me a nod and the biggest smile . when we got there he asked all about the car and we talked for a while about the older porsches!

I dunno about Boxsters flashing, but I wouldn't mind a flash from some of the trophy wives I've seen driving them.
