Maybe $8500 is a little optimistic?

I am currently looking for a turbo and i can agree with the statements made above...from your writeup you don't even specify when the "bottom end" was rebuilt. Not trying to knock, just trying to shed some perspective from a buyer's point of view.

Intresting comments... May I retort..
ok this car has over 6k in toys on it, thats not even the engine and interior just the toys. The seats are perfect I'd take the covers off but they are a pain in the butt to put on and take off. Both are power the pass is from a turbo S. I don't know when the bottom was redone but when we did the head it's obvious that it was done at some point the compression is right on at 150 across the board on my gauge ( gauge may be calibrated wrong but the cyls are all within 3lbs of each other) The car needs paint you are correct I could have thrown a 500 dollar paint job on it and no one buying it would be the wiser for a year or so when it would start looking crappy again. I figure who ever buys it can put the paint on and hopefully do it right. Other than that it's oil tight no leaks, power steering or otherwise. It's a good car is the 8500 buy it now optimistic I don't know guess we will have to see.

While I agree that $8,500 might be a little high, I don't believe it is an unbelievable amount to ask for, especially depending on where you live. I can tell you now, in certain parts of the country (and even more rescently), if you want a 951, you'll pay more than just a few years ago, and prices are NOT going down.
People who scoff at the prices better hope they don't loose their 951 and decide to replace it, they'll be scoffing for a very long time then!

I agree that $8500 is not necessarily over the top. The car has some nice features and the engine work offsets some of the high mileage. Anyone who has rebuilt one of these things knows that fixing a bunch of mechanical problems or oil leaks can be very expensive due to cost of Porsche parts. Body work on the other hand does not have to be more expensive than any other car. I would rather take a clean and tidy mechanically sound car with minor body work needed than a perfect looking car with lots of mechanical faults.
Just my two cents.
Cheers
