Default Dr. Colorchip Before/After Pics

Recently used the Dr. Colorchip process to touch up some road rash on the front bumper of my 951. I'm really pleased with the results and it was pretty easy to do, so thought I'd share some before and afters.

The first pic is of the area next to the license plate, the second is the area below the side marker. No affiliation, just a happy customer, check out their site for the how-to, the whole thing took maybe an hour.

The short answer is that you dab the paint on the chip, swipe it with your (rubber) gloved finger and then wipe off the excess with their magic solution. Check the Dr. Colorchip website for pics of the process.

so you are basically filling in the chips/nicks with paint, and smoothing off the excess that spills out on the surrounding paint.

common "touch-up guy" stuff.

looks good!

Exactly. The beauty of this method is that you don't need to be 'accurate' in your application of the touch-up paint. You blob it on, wipe it to even it out with the paint and then wipe off the excess with the solution. I started off doing one or two chips at a time and trying to be careful and eventually concluded I could do large sections by just brushing the touch-up paint more or less over the entire panel.

Much better than the old methods I've tried before!

The magic solution is likely a derivitive of paint thinner.

Agreed. Never meant to imply there was anything truly unique about this, but the price is right and they've made it easy to get the color matched paint and all the other bits and pieces you need.

And it sure turned out 'perty

I used this and it did "magically" remove all those chips but after 8 months it has all but come off. Didnt survive through a few wax jobs. I plan on using it again put dont count on it being a permanent fix. Its a good product and you will be very happy for about 3-4 months. Remember to use the solution sparingly, it doesnt take much and goes quickly.

Thanks, my favorite 'perty' parts are the K27/6 and the Vitesse bits to go with it
