Default Shops in NYC Area

Does anybody have any experience with a shop called Rennwerke in Elmsford, NY?

I recently had AN-style hydraulic fuel lines installed and it looks like one of the compression fittings on the hard line is leaking, so I'm looking for a place that will fix it the right way (eg so I don't need to worry about whether or not I'm leaking fuel). Rennwerke is close and seems good, but I'd appreciate any feedback.

Alternatively, if you know of any other good shops in the NYC area that might be able to handle this, I'd appreciate it. I'm looking for a shop that has experience with working on Porsches and working on racecars

Thank you very much

No experience with Rennwerke but ive never heard bad things about them.

SM Motorsport does mostly Porsche / euro cars and knows the 944 series cars inside and out. They are in New Hyde Park which is about 25 minutes east of NYC.. not far off the LIE. Sonny is a good guy.. 516-775-8655

I personally goto TKX Performance (they are 10 minutes from me) for the stuff i cant do my self (mainly wheel alignments) but they are a bit of a trek from NYC.. about 45 minutes or so in Huntington Station. 631-424-3640 . They do mostly high end stuff but are very familiar with the 944 there.

I take my 944 to Auto Tech in Boonton - about 30 miles from NYC. They just did my belts, seals & waterpump and the car has never been happier. Not a single drip coming from the front end

It was the third 944 they had in that week so they definitely get their practice in (they are down the street from me so I see what they are working on pretty much every day). I regularly see 944s and 911s out front as well as the occasional old Ferrari. As a bonus, they let you bring your own parts.

The owner does a lot of work himself and seems to know these cars pretty well. I've had a couple jobs done there and have never had a problem and the couple times I've rolled in with a question or small problem, they've taken some time to check it out on the spot. Good "bedside manner", definitely recommended. They are a little expensive on labor but it's better than cheap, questionable work and getting jacked on marked-up parts to boot.

Thanks for the recommendations...I'll check those places out. The car is currently in Westchester, so someplace convenient to there and NYC would be ideal.

If anybody else knows shops they can recommend or has feedback on Rennwerke (its the closest too me that I've found so far), please let me know...I want to get as much research as possible before I start spending money (which I will probably have to do as I don't really have anywhere to be taking fuel lines apart on my own)

I use ROCS Auto in Belleville, NJ..about 15mins from Manhattan without traffic.

Rich and Victor are the Owners..they are PCA members and Vic drives Rich's old 1991 944S2 track car...Rich is building a 951. They are a Porsche and Rolls Royce shop and are honest and provide great service....I have never been let down and have always left their shop happy.

You can google them...or shoot me a PM.

For the achives, I'll second Sonny at SM. He used to take care of my 951 when I lived in NYC and I thought he was great. I've heard that Cheech at Rennwerke is fantastic as well, but never used him. Your other nearby option in Westchester county is Deman, which also has a great reputation.
