Coverlay Dash Cover -- Before & After Photos

Three Wheelin'
If anyone is installing a coverlay the best way to glue it on is with silicon. Just put it on the dash in a zig-zag pattern and put a lot near the edges before you drop on the coverlay. This will prevent rattles.

Here's another angle. If you look above the steering wheel, you will notice that the Coverlay has warped/buckled just a bit due to sun exposure. (Even though the thing is garaged, for crying out loud!)

In this photo you can CLEARLY see the effect of the warping and the loose fit on the left side. I am really disappointed at the warping, and find it distracting.
Now in defense of the dash cover, I installed the thing myself and had no prior experience. I think I am going to reinstall it in the near future to ensure a better fit. (My girlfriend's father has the magic touch with this stuff!) I used silicone glue, but very lightly. Now the thing is loose and it rattles.
My final analysis of the Coverlay: it's an $80 solution to a $500 problem. In other words, this is not a replacement for a pristine OEM dash. But for $80, it definitely beats looking at a badly cracked dash. Even in this state, most people do not realize that my car has a dash cover! To the untrained eye, it looks like a factory dash.
But if you are obsessive about your car, then a dash cover will be a stopgap solution. Apparently, an OEM dash is the only surefire fix.

Sean,
I've had a coverlay on my dash for about 4 years and really like it. The only complaint I have is that the cover is cracked in between the vents on top of the dashboard, nearest the windshield. I ignored the instructions and put glue all over the dash and in between the dashboard vents to get better adhesion. By doing this, the cover wasn't able to expand and contract with the varying temperatures, resulting in the dash cover cracking between the vents.

Hello & welcome. If you click on the posters name you will see that Sean hasn’t posted here for eight years.
The Coverlay colors are generic and not Porsche colors so none of them will match. Porsche color code LU is a sort of dark brown so I would assume that Coverlay’s dark brown (DBR) would be the closest you’ll get. To be certain you could always call and ask them to send you samples of the three browns they make and hold them up to your dash.
