Blue 944 with dual exhaust?
On my way home today I saw a blue 944 with dual exhaust. He was headed north on Lawrence Expressway in Sunnyvale. Anyone see a 944 with dual exhaust before? Is the owner here on Rennlist? I thought the dual exhaust looked really cool.

Dual as in two tips on the driver side, or like two pipes, like on, say, a V8 Mustang? I've always wanted to see a dual pipe 944, maybe the second could be the wastegate exhaust?

It was a dual as in a V8 mustang. One on each side of the car. I was at a stoplight and tried to wave him to stop. He was headed the opposite direction and the dual exhaust just stood out.

Especially since I've read that dual exhausts are never optimal for inline 4s, I wanted to try to make the other pipe actually do something.

True dual exhausts are really only for v- or flat-type engines. It gives each bank of cylinders a seperate exhaust system. On an inline motor, it would have to be a seperate exhaust system for two cylinders, which wouldn't be too practical, and probably couldn't fit under the car.

And yes, I agree that a true dual-exhaust on a 4cyl would be rice, but it could look pretty good.
I think the best option is to do a little swap with a 928 V8 & then put twin turbo's on the dual-exhaust.

I know this is apples and oranges, but a VAST majority of motorcycles (inline 4s) uave dual exhaust. 4-2-1-2 or 4-2 with a crossover. Tuned right, it gives more midrange at the expense of top end HP.
I actually perfer dual exhaust on inline fours (again, motorcycle related).
