Post OT-computer help!

I have a Compaq persario 1700 laptop. I have a but load of operating system and softwear problems with it. Also the AC cord and input have both failed. Now the screen seems to have failed. I took the computer apart and fixed the AC, but while inside I found MANY lose screws rolling around inside as well as many others about to fallout. On the screen I can see it come on, but it is so dimm I can't realy see anything. I used a Voltmeter and tested the circuit board that plugs into the screen and there does not seem to be any power comeing from it.

My main question is, should I try and have this computer fixed or should I bee looking for a new laptop?

Hey Chris -
Sounds like it's time to replace it, however, being an IT guy myself, I would be willing to take a look at it for you, if you like (But I'd still start looking).
Drop me a line
