I'm trying to adjust the switch for the sunroof on my 84 944.
My sunroof is closing now, but leaks a little, so I was going to make the roof close a slight bit more. Looking at the pelican parts article
(http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/944_Sunroof/944_sunroof.htm)
, I had a qeustion.
On switch one, does anyone know how to move switch one to make the sunroof close a bit more?
This should solve the problem of the sunroof leaking, so I'd appreciate any help you can give. Other than this, the sunroof operates properly, so hopefully this will fix it.

Funny- mine closes- but not completely. I have to "snug it down" by using the 1'st key postion and get it the rest of the way down. when I stary the car the sunroof "vents" about 1/2" by itself. It also appears to be slightly higher on the pass side when up.
I know its an adjustment somewhere, I just live with it. anyone know how to adjust this without removing the motor covers and manually adjusting it??
Yeah, I know i'm lazy. But it's usually off in the summer. It's the last annoyance thing i have to play with.

If one side is higher than the other the only way to adjust it is to open the gearbox and readjust the cables. If it doesn't bother you, don't mess with it.

That's a simple procedure.
Take the plastic cover off (the one over the motor), look straight down at the microswitches. Take your finger and slide the top microswitch left.

Is there a way to automatically stop the roof hinges from totally disconnecting? its a pain in the *** to judge when it is locked down.....because if i dont, i get to about 55mph and it starts blowing in the wind

okay, so I'm beinging back an old question, what can I say, i'm just getting around to this now cause I'm lazy.
My question is what to remove to get to the microswitches to adjust the sunroof movements on my 84. I see a few bolts back there, but they look like they are braces to actually hold the whole motor assembly in. I don't think thats what I want to remove. Can anyone tell me what to look for in the back so I can get to the microswitches?

I have an 84 also. As you look at the motor assemble, at the very back of the bracket (real close to the tail lights) you will see a big Phillips head screw that is in a slot. This holds the micro switches in place that affect how far the roof closes and also the release capability. If you loosen the screw and slide the switch assembly, that the screw is holding, towards the back of the car the roof should now close tighter. I would put a mark where it is now so you can go back to that point if you need to. If you have someone that can work the open and close sunroof switch in the car in between you making small adjustments it will go quicker. If you move it too far back (I am not sure if this is possible) the arms will pull all the way down and release the roof. This adjustment will also affect the removal sequence if it is out of adjustment. Are you able to remove the sunroof now with the removal sequence? The removal part of the sunroof operation is still a problem I am trying to overcome. I think my problem has to do with how the switch (up/down) inside the car gets its power for sunroof removal when the car is off.

I also have a 1984 with sunroof problems. The roof opens and closes in the #2 position, but it opens wider than it used to but it does not close all the way down. I installed a new felt seal, which I think is why it cannot go all the way into the closed position. My biggest probem is removing the top, so that I can replace the felt strip with one that is not so thick. I cannot get the roof to release from the #2 position, rather, it will move slightly open in the #2 position, similar to when I start to drive the car. It opens automatically about 1/2 inch. If anyone has any idea as to how to get the roof in the release position, either electrically or manually, please let me know. I can be reached at gsenn@yahoo.com. Thanks for any assistance. I have read the clarks garage article, but it has not helped my particular problem.
