Timing question
I am getting close to check my timing in my car and wanted to know what I have to do to check it? Do I need any special tools/parts? How long does it take? How hard is it? Thanks.

Dude, unless someone says otherwise, it's all controlled by the DME. No adjustment on the distributor, only adjustment I know of is to retard it by the pot on the DME for Bad gas. And unles you live in Mexico (and no the fact that you live in Ohio and WOULD RATHER live in Mexico doesn't count) then nothing to worry about.

I am talking about my Timing belt not the timing on the car. I want to check my belt so it is good to go. Let me know asap because I am coming closer to my time.

Ahhhhhh
How many miles on the belt? If unkown change it. if approachink 35K miles, change it.
As to the tension you need a Porsche 9201 tool and to check you need to remove the front covers (and it will be easier if you remove the alt, power steering belts and the fans). Others have used a Kricket tool but I have not so can't speak to it.
Checking takes a bit of finnese. But that will only be for tension. No way to really know if the belt is going to go, or rollers, waterpump etc.
SO the basic question is, how long ago was it changed, if unkown replace.
