Did not remove window
I replaced the speakers in the back on my 83 today and got the back panel off with out removing the window and it re-installed fine. Was this a fluke or have other people on the board not have to remove the window when replacing the speakers?

I did mine with the window in, just bent the panel back and had someone hold it.
But when my car was broken into they broke the drivers 1/4 window and it was really easy to replace.

me either. It was tight, but manageable. I have heard about people cracking this part- If it's like the headliner it's very fragile..

It's very easy to pull the window, and quite easy to put in (if you hav tried it before). I do it alone.
So i don't se any reason to risk tear the vinyl.

I didn't see a risk to tear the vinyl, just bent the fiberboard a bit.
Anyone else, to put the window back in.
With the window in the gasket run a piece of string tightly inside the gasket, start to put the gasket into the window hole. While pushing the window and gasket into the hole pull the string into the car and the window goes in like a zipper.
Take a screwdriver and pull in the part of the gasket that didn't go in with the string.
Maybe 5 min with no helper.
Use windex as a lube.
